Det är oviktigt att veta vem Paul Barnett är (han jobbar som lead designer på Warhammer Online), men det kan vara ganska roligt att läsa vad han hade att säga om Dreamhack Summer 2008.
Dreamhack är, för er som inte vet, världens största LAN-party. Runt 10000 datorer kopplas ihop i ett lokalt nätverk och folk spelar mot och med varandra dygnet runt tills de stupar vid skärmen. En gamers drömfest, helt enkelt.
Paul Barnett hade åtminstone väldigt roligt.
”So people head to this place, they bring their base units, some have taken the trouble to add flashing lights, spinning things, toys, air horns, fans and all manner of none sense to the base unit.
They also bring their chairs, yes, they bring their own chairs. Pushing them up the hill with the base unit tied to the seat.
And with the chairs they bring the bedding…”
Jo, visst låter det konstigt om man lägger fram det på det viset.
”The whole thing has a sort of free musical festival vibe. No one is looking for trouble, no one is causing any fuss, no one is doing anything but wanting to play LAN games.”
Jag tro faktiskt att det här är bra reklam för Sverige. Väldigt mycket åt det nördiga hållet, men nördhet är ju det nya svarta.
”You should, if you get the chance, come to Dreamhack, its on again in November and its quite unlike anything I have ever been to before.”
Kan vi se fram emot november-turister? Vore inte helt fel. Dreamhack ska kanske marknadsföras även mot utlandet.
Betyder bara att jag får det svårare att hitta en billig biljett i vinter ju..
Då kan jag tipsa om att det redan nu går att köpa värdekoden som behövs för att boka plats i höst..! Köp före 1 augusti så får man förtur när det är dags att välja plats sen..!
